I grew up in rural Montana, surrounded by people who believed loyalty, cooperation, dependability, and self-reliance were essential to success.
I worked on ranches and in construction before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business (Accounting) from Eastern Washington State in 1971.
After graduating, I joined the U.S. Department of Labor in Audit and Investigation, later moving to the Denver region where I became a CPA and eventually Acting Regional Director. I then worked in the Middle East directing a contract cost compliance group on a $5-billion construction project, followed by roles as Audit Supervisor and financial group director at an international aluminum company’s San Mateo headquarters. After relocating to Atlanta, I served as CFO for two small private companies.
In 1991, I founded a public accounting firm in the San Francisco East Bay serving owner-operated businesses, later focusing primarily on tax preparation, consulting, and representation. I was fortunate to work with a talented team of CPAs and EAs. At the end of 2024, our firm was honored to become part of 17 Mile Drive, LLP, a financial services firm that shares our commitment to exceptional client service and expands our ability to meet client needs.
My wife Jan and I have lived in San Lorenzo since 1985. We have five wonderful grandchildren and one arrogant cat.
